We are currently looking for a Network Administrator for one of our opportunities in the Greater Toronto Area:

Our client is looking for an experienced network engineer within IT Infrastructure. The purpose of this role is to support the client with emphasis in the following areas: Configure and install/replace Cisco network switches, Analyze current port utilization and plan future port utilization, Update Cisco switch configurations, Document Cisco switch configurations, Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring network engineering performance and ensuring system availability and reliability
  • Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches)
  • Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Produce documentation throughout the project as required by the manager

 

Requirements (experience/skills/clearance):

  • University/Community College degree in Computer Science / Electronic Engineering or equivalent a definite asset
  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g. IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11)
  • Solid understanding and experience with Layer3 "Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)", VRF and layer 2 protocol MST
  • Great understanding and experience working VLAN, QOS, NTP, NAME server and ACL
  • Excellent understanding, planning, and experience in public and private IP classes, subnetting, and CIDR (supernetting)
  • Experience in upgrading Cisco IOS firmware and recovering IOS image
  • Experience in documenting, monitoring, backing up and restoring Cisco configur
  • Great understanding and experience working with Cisco trunking and ether-channeling
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in writing documentation; experience in tracking problems and issues towards successful completion
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

 

 Deliverables:

  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Provide status reports, as required
  • Track problems and issues within a large project
  • Assure the quality of documentation is delivered through-out and at the end of the project
